Assign Content to Catalog Items

Catalog Items are the packages that contain the learning objects. These can be delivered to a user by assigning them to the user. There are five types of Catalog Items, namely, Resources, Course, Learning Paths, Content Bundles and Podcast. A Catalog Item can be created as Paid or free of cost. It can also have a Validity. While creating a Catalog Item, you can also specify whether it will be Independent, Part of a Catalog Item, or both.

  • A Resource contains only one learning object in them.ย 
  • A Course contains multiple learning objects in them.
  • A Learning Path can contain courses and learning objects.
  • A Content Bundle can contain learning paths, courses, and learning objects.ย 

To create a new Catalog Item:

  1. On the Manage Content page, click the CATALOG ITEMS tab.
  2. Click the ADD CATALOG button.
  3. Choose the type of Catalog Item that needs to be created.
  4. The respective Catalog Item popup page opens.
  5. Fill in all the required details in the INFO tab. The fields marked with a red asterisk are mandatory.
    • Check the Visibility and Auto Enroll check box and choose Group(s) if the Catalog Item must be visible and enrolled automatically only for a specific audience. Check Notification and Announcement if you want to send out notification and announcements about the new Catalog Item.
  6. Click CONTINUE. The CONTENT tab opens in which you can add the contents.
  7. Choose a Validity and provide a Price for the Catalog Item. These are mandatory fields.
  8. Click the Plus button to view all the learning objects, courses, and learning paths that can be mapped to the Resource, Course, Learning Path, or Content bundle.
    • Only the items that can be mapped to the particular Catalog Item will be visible on clicking the Plus button.
  9. Click SAVE.

To edit an existing Catalog Item:

  1. On the Manage Content page, click the CATALOG ITEMS tab.
  2. Click the Edit icon in the Catalog Item that needs to be edited.
  3. Update the required details and the content.
  4. Upon clicking SAVE, you must choose for whom the changes will be affected.ย 
  5. Click SAVE again.
